North Valleys Little League is divided into four divisions. They are divided by age of players and skill level. Overlapping of age groups is common. A player of a certain age may have 0 years playing experience when another might have 3 years experience, yet they are the same age. If you do not know which division your child's skill level requires please feel free to ask any board members or coaches for there input. The divisions are as follows:
T-Ball ages 4-6 (There is no T-Ball Division in the Fall - if your child has played at least one season of T-Ball, they can play in the Fall Farm Division)
T-Ball is the entry level to baseball. Children hit off of a tee using a soft Little league approved baseball Coaches are permitted on the field to assist players at all times The purpose of T-Ball is to introduce children to the basic concepts of the game. If you have a 4-6 year old child that has never played, this is the place to start.
Farm ages 6-9
Farm is appropriate for children who have at least 1 year of experience or for players with no experience that are at the upper end of the age bracket. Farm uses a pitching machine to pitch to the batter. Like T-Ball the coaches are allowed to assist players on the Field. Farm is a fun division and can be fast paced.
Minors ages 8-11
Minors is a step up in skills. This division features live arm pitching, umpires, running scores, stats, and overall win loss records. In our Minor program we use the coach pitch option. players do not walk, they must put the ball into play. Minors teams are drafted from the collective pool by the individual managers to field there team. A skill level assessment (try-out) is required to play in the Minors. Late sign ups may be placed on a Minor team.
Majors ages 10-12 All 12 year olds must play majors!
The Major division is little League baseball. Played like real baseball with the exception of some rules designed by Little League International to protect our youth athletes. The Major division is drafted from the pool of players by team managers. Skill assessment (try out) is mandatory for this division no exceptions. Players that miss the draft will be placed on a minors team until called up to the majors by a team manager.
